Microwaved or organic popcorn - which one is healthy?

Popcorn is adored by people of all ages, locations and cultures. Just the thought of a dish full of these fluffy kernels makes one happy.

While many like to make them the old-fashioned way, others simply toss a bag of microwave popcorn into the oven to make them right away. But is it good for you?

Nutritionist Bhakti Kapoor said, “Most microwave popcorn comes with chemicals that are known to cause long-term health problems in humans.”

Kapoor shared a method for preparing organic popcorns at home - heat up a pan, add one spoon of butter or oil, add the kernels once it's hot, wait until all of the corns pop.

Aman Puri, Founder, Steadfast Nutrition, said, “Though it contains artificial flavours and colours and takes minutes to cook, it’s full of unhealthy ingredients, such as sodium and hydrogenated oil (Trans-fat) compared to organic popcorn, which is more nutritious.”
